Initial situation

A design service provider was commissioned by a multinational sanitaryware manufacturer to design an innovative shower stall.

The challenge

  • There were/are hundreds of shower stalls/models.

  • How can unique selling points be created through product design?

Objective

The development/production/ marketing of a shower enclosure that stands out from competitor products thanks to its innovative functions and features.

Approach

The approach was to use focus group workshops to define solution-independent requirements (specifications) that would allow the design team the greatest possible scope for solutions in order to develop a specification and the resulting product design together with the customer (multinational sanitary group).

Results

The result was the design of a bestseller in the shower stall sector with an outstandingly functional and innovative design.
